Sickness Benefit

A secured person who is certified to be incapable for work by an authorized medical officer of the Institution, is entitled to receive Sickness Benefit, provided social security contribution in his respect is paid/payable for at least 90 days during 06 months immediately preceding the date of his incapacity.

 

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED:

  1. Medical certificates viz. M-1, M-2 & M-3 forms to be issued by the authorized Medical Officer of the Institution, duly verified by the Consultant.
  2. Certificate of attendance during last six months and wages last drawn to be issued by the employer on prescribed form (B-2).
  3. Social Security Registration Card (R-5) / Benazir Mazdoor Card.

 

TIME LIMIT:

The claim should be filed within 07 days of the date of issue of first incapacity certificate (M-1), issued by an authorized medical practitioner.

 

ENTITLEMENT:

A secured person shall be entitled to receive sickness benefit throughout the period of sickness Provided that during a continuous period of 365 days such benefit shall not be allowed for a period exceeding.

  1. 365 days, in case he has been suffering from tuberculosis or cancer which renders an employee incapable to earn his livelihood.
  2. 121 days, in case he has been suffering from any other disease. Provided further that he shall not be entitled to receive such benefit for the first two days of his sickness if such sickness does not, within 15 days, follow the previous period of sickness for which he received or was entitled to receive such benefit.

RATE:

75% of the last rate of wages in ordinary ailment and 100% in the cases of tuberculosis or cancer.
